Acupuncture is when
a trained TCM specialist delicately inserts thin needles in to different points
of the body that stimulates the meridians. Meridians
are a channel of networks that covers the entire body, and as shown in the
figure to the right. These channels connect different parts of the body
with each other. There are over 1000 acupuncture points along the channels;
each one of them has a specific function. Through stimulation, obstacles
in the channels are removed and the body is able to flow normally again,
thus, regaining its balance.
